Energy is traditionally produced by burning fossil fuel in power plants. One of the ways to increase efficiency is to use gas and steam turbines together as a combined cycle power plant. In combined cycle power plants both the gas and steam turbines work together to increase plant efficiency, in contrast to simple cycle gas turbine power plants. The heat exhaust from the gas turbine is utilized to produce steam through a “Heat Recovery Steam Generator” to run the steam turbine, which generates almost double the power.
