Accessibility Policy – Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)

Policy Statement

Globotech is committed to treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner and will do so by preventing and removing barriers to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Purpose

This policy is developed in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), Ontario Regulation 191/11, as amended.

Scope

Subject to any provision to the contrary, or any applicable policies, this Policy applies to all visitors, employees, contractors and subcontractors of Globotech.

The organization welcomes feedback regarding accessibility and will respond to concerns or requests in a formal manner.

Customer Service Standards

Globotech is committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities.

  • Assistive Devices. We will ensure that our staff are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers and employees with disabilities while accessing our goods or services
  • Communication. We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that consider their disability.
  • Service Animals. We welcome people with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed on parts of our premises that are open to the public.
  • Support Persons. A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises. Fees will not be charged for supporting people.
  • Notice of Temporary Disruption. In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities for customers with disabilities, Globotech will notify customers promptly in a way accessible for the customers with disabilities.

    The notice will include the reason for disruption, the duration of the disruption and any alternatives available.

    Employment Standards

    Recruitment

    Globotech is committed to fair and accessible employment practices.

    We will take the following steps to notify employees and external applicants that, when requested, Globotech will accommodate individuals with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes, and thereafter when they are hired.

    Notice to Successful Applicants

    When making offers of employment, Globotech will notify the successful applicant of its policies for accommodating employees with disabilities and consult with the successful applicant if he or she requests accommodation.

    Informing Employees of Supports

    Globotech will continue to inform its employees of its policies (and any updates to those policies) used to support employees with disabilities, including policies on the provision of job accommodation that consider an employee’s accessibility needs due to disability. This information will be provided to new employees as soon as practicable after commencing employment.

    Return to Work Process

    Globotech is committed to developing and putting in place a process for developing individual accommodation plans and return-to-work policies for employees that have been absent due to a disability.

    Accessible Formats and Communication Supports for Staff / Visitors

    Upon request of a Staff/Visitor with a disability, Globotech will consult with the person to provide, or arrange for accessible formats and communication supports for information that is needed to perform his/her job, and information that is available to other employees.

    In order to determine the suitability of an accessible format or communication support, Globotech will consult with the Staff/Visitor making the request. Accessible formats and communications supports regarding general workplace information will also be provided to employees with disabilities.

    Performance Management, Career Development and Advancement and Redeployment

    Globotech will consider the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities, as well as individual accommodation plans, when conducting performance management, providing career development and advancement to employees, or when redeploying employees.

    Information and Communication Standards

    Accessible Websites and Web Content

    Globotech will take the following steps to make its internet websites, including web content, conform to World Wide Web Consortium Web Content (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA, except where meeting this requirement is not practicable.

    Accessible Public Information

    Globotech will take the following steps to make sure all publicly available information is made accessible upon request.

    • Determine what accessible formats and communication support can be provided to persons with disabilities, at no greater cost than normally charged.
    • Consult with the person making the request in determining the suitability of an accessible format or communication support.
    • Prepare and make available accessible public information in various formats.

    Accessible Emergency Information

    Globotech is committed to providing their staff with publicly available emergency information in an accessible way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response information when necessary.
